NBFD DEPUTY CHIEF JAMES D’HERON KILLED

Our deepest sympathy and sadness go out to the family of Deputy Chief James Dheron as well as the members of the New Brunswick Fire Department. This morning at 0303 hours the New Brunswick FD was dispatched to a house fire only six blocks from their fire headquarters. Chief Dheron arrived less than 2 minutes after the call was dispatched and entered the building to awake the sleeping families inside and get them out. His valiant efforts woke 15 residents who were able to get outside safely sadly Chief Dheron was unable to make it out of the building. Read Newspaper Article from the Home News Tribune. Members from East Franklin responded into the city when the second alarm was struck. Car 27 and Engine 272 responded directly to the scene of the fire. Engine 272s crew assisted NBFD and the other mutual aide companies with the overhaul of 50 Lee Avenue and then remained on scene until approximately 1400 hours assisting investigators with tools and lines off NB Engine 1.
