On Thursday July 4th, 2019 at approximately 2301 hours, Fire District #3 was dispatched to 690 Easton Avenue for a reported Structure Fire.
Chief 27 arrived, established Fire Command and confirmed a working Structure Fire, with heavy fire showing from the A-side and attic area. A 1st Alarm Assignment was requested. Chief 25 took on the role of Operations and Car 274 kept accountability of all personnel on the scene.
Ladder 27 arrived 1st due and stretched an attack line to the front door, knocking the fire from the outside before pushing an aggressive interior attack. Engine 27 and Ladder 25 assisted by pulling two additional attack lines, in order to assist with complete extinguishment of the fire.
Crews from Squad 27, Engine 253 and Engine 251 assisted with vertical ventilation, salvage and overhaul. Bound Brook Squad 23 was initially dispatched to cover Station 27, but was redirected to the scene due to the high humidity issues and a subsequent need for additional manpower.
Once Squad 23 from Bound Brook cleared the scene, they covered Station 27 and North Brunswick Co. 3 covered Station 25. Air 27 provided additional manpower on the scene and help fill SCBA Bottles for all personnel. Overall operational time was approximately 3 hours.
The scene was turned over to Franklin P.D. and Franklin Twp. Fire Prevention. Two Firefighters were injured while battling the blaze and later released from their respective hospitals. Good stop by all companies and great teamwork!
