On Thursday October 24th, 2019 at approximately 0414 hours, Fire District #3 was dispatched to 22 Hawthorne Drive, for a reported Structure Fire. While units were enroute to the scene, Franklin Twp. Police updated Somerset County Communications that a shed was on fire 15 feet from the house.
Car 252 arrived and confirmed a working shed fire. Car 27 arrived behind him and assumed command of the incident. Engine 253 (E-253) was 1st due. Their crew stretched an attack line off the side of the rig and a supply line was secured from the hydrant. Engine 27 arrived 2nd due and pulled a 2nd attack line off E-253. Both crews worked simultaneously to control the fire, which had active impingement on two small propane tanks inside of the shed.
The fire was extinguished and overhauled without incident in less than an hour, with no damage to surrounding residential structures. Additional units on scene were Deputy Chief 25, Tech Rescue 257, Car 273, Car 274 and Ladder 27.
The scene was turned over to Franklin Twp. Fire Prevention and remains under investigation at this time. All fire units cleared at approximately 0533 hours and command was terminated.
