Upon arrival, Capt. Daughton established command from the 1st Due Engine (Engine 27). A live wire was located on fire approximately 10 feet from the structure at 474 Hamilton Street. PSEG was requested on a rush and a hose line was deployed to protect surrounding structures.
It was determined that 474 Hamilton St. was occupied, at which time the crew from Engine 253 assisted with the evacuation of that structure, as well as 476 Hamilton Street. Patrol Units from both New Brunswick PD and Franklin PD kept traffic clear of the scene.
Command was transferred after a face to face with Chief 27. PSEG arrived within the hour and secured the power. Foreman Weber extinguished the small brush fire that was created by the live wire and all surrounding structures were not affected.
Additional apparatus on the scene were Car 273, Ladder 27, Car 25, Engine 251, Ladder 25 and New Brunswick Engine 5. All units cleared without incident. Good teamwork was done by all agencies involved!
