On Friday April 6th, 2018 at approximately 7:01 a.m. Fire District #3 was dispatched to the rear of Saint Peter and Paul Church located at 285 Hamilton Street, for a person who had fell down an embankment.
Squad 27 was the first unit on the scene and Captain Daughton established command. With the assistance of the Franklin Twp. Police Department a search began for the involved party. A male was located within 5 minutes of the initial units arrival approximately 15 feet down an embankment just off the border of the City of New Brunswick next to Mile Run Creek.
After a face to face transition of Command, Chief Calvo took command and Captain Daughton handled operations of this low angle rescue. Captain Daughton and Lieutenant Latanzio descended down the embankment. A quick assessment was completed on a male victim and a plan was put in place to get him to safety.
The crew from Rescue 25 and Ladder 25 lowered a stokes basket down. Within approximately 45 minutes of total operational time, the victim was packaged, removed to safety and transferred into the care of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Medical Staff.
