On Sunday November 25th, 2018 members of East Franklin Fire Department attended the Rally for Declan, held in Lebanon, NJ.
During this time, fire companies from all over the State of New Jersey lined up on Main Street and paraded through the town with lights and sirens, in honor of Declan Hegarty. This event was put together by the Lebanon Boro Fire Company in Hunterdon County.
Declan was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia when he was 5 months old. He lived in the hospital for over 5 months receiving chemotherapy each day. When he was 8 months old he had a bone marrow transplant from a career firefighter from the midwest in hopes to save his life.
Declan now 2 years old still has a long journey ahead, but he is a happy energetic and extremely loving boy and puts a smile on everyone’s face. His love for fire trucks is immense and he loves to talk on his walkie-talkie.
Thank you to the membership who attended and to the Lebanon Boro Fire Company for organinzing this event. Station 27 has your back Declan, stay strong!
