On Monday August 12th, 2019 at approximately 1305 hours, The East Franklin Fire Department was requested Mutual Aid into the City of New Brunswick, for a 3rd Alarm Fire at 1 Home News Row.
Upon arrival, Squad 27 was tasked with securing a supply line from the hydrant. After laying approximately 1200 feet of 5-inch hose in towards the fire scene, the crew went right to work assisting with fire suppression efforts.
Crews worked vigorously to control and extinguish this stubborn fire and were met with many water pressure issues. Due to this being a prolonged operation, crews swapped out once manpower became available. Engine 27 swapped out with Squad 27’s crew and continued the efforts to extinguish the fire completely, along with prolonged overhaul operations. Rehab was provided by Utility 272 and a special delivery of water and Gatorade by Commissioner Cottrell. Thank you for helping keep our Firefighters hydrated.
Total on scene time was approximately 8 hours for Station 27 units. Thank you to Bound Brook FD and Fire District #1, for providing coverage while our units were in the City of New Brunswick.
